It’s a showdown this Friday
Monday’s match (21st June 2010) between
Portugal had gone up against North Korea in 1996, scoring 5-3, but yesterday’s match was a total thrashing of 7-0, with Tiago netting 2 goals at the 61st and 89th minute. Christiano Ronaldo broke his two-year competitive scoring drought for Portugal after scoring their sixth goal at the 87th minute.
Among the scorers for Portugal were Simao (52’), Hugo Almeida (56’) and Liedson (79’). Seems like Portugal was burping goals last night!
Brazil had earlier on defeated North Korea 2-1 on 16th June 2010, and will be facing Portugal this Friday, 25th June, in Durban. While this is a highly anticipated match, questions are already forming in our heads, no thanks to Portugal’s performance last night.
How is it that World No. 1, Brazil, only managed to score 2 goals against North Korea when Portugal, ranked World No. 3, sent North Korea to their end? Was it pure luck on Portugal’s part, or was it pure teamwork? Did North Korea get complacent in their defensive formation after the match against Brazil, hence losing their guard against Portugal, or did the rain affect their performance?
What’s in question is how the result is going to turn out between Brazil vs Portugal this Friday, after the face-off Portugal had with North Korea yesterday. Will one of them emerge as the winner, or will it be a draw?
Win or draw, the South American will be guaranteed their place in the last 16.
It’ll be a tough fight, nonetheless, and a definite must-watch! Have something to say? Think it’ll be a draw? Say what you have to say here, with us! We’d love to keep the ball rolling! Related Articles |
