eatmepoptart and Poptart parties

5 years, 4 crazy individuals, electronic club music. What do you end up getting? Poptart parties. A monthly installment at Fash at The Butter Factory.

in2it.sg was very lucky to gain VIP excess to one of their gigs at The Butter Factory awhile back. It was also the launch of their apparel line! So let’s rewind to 5 years ago, and look at how these 4 music loving people can together.

P1010660The leader of the gang eatmepoptart, Dj Adrian Wee aka weelikeme started off spinning at clubs, and realized that there was a lack of interaction with partygoers. He wanted to create something more intimate which felt comfortable with the crowd. Finding the right partners in crime was difficult as not many people were into electronic club music. Adrian finally roped in DJ Aida aka Jah, DJ Terrence aka Jinmart and DJ Zaidi. When asked if it was difficult coming together as only Adrian was doing this full time; the rest had day jobs, Adrian replied, “We've been very lucky and we haven’t gone through fights like rock bands.” And this has paid off for the quartet of The Butter Factory. Playing to a packed room every once a month, their loyal supporters start queuing even before the club opens its doors.

Without any examples to model themselves after, eatmepoptart has overcome challenges to become an icon at The Butter Factory. Spinning tunes from pop, punk, alternative, postrock, twee, electro, rock and britpop, it definitely is a breather from your usual club r&b hits. Crazy fans sing along to the songs, put their hands up in the air, however all that surrounds you doesn't seem to affect you one bit! You feel as if you are the only one there, jumping around, swinging your head left to right to the sound of the music. Don't you hate it when the crowd gets in the way of your night out? People pushing and shoving you and you're so affected by the crowd that you just wish you were at home instead. Let eatmepoptart provide you an experience to remember!

eatmepoptart has also reached new heights by launching their first ever apparel collection! Together with Praise & The Corner Shop, they have come up with 3 designs that pay tribute to some of eatmepoptart's influences, and have visually ”remixed’ two iconic CD artwork- Sonic Youth’s Goo & Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures. The third design is a reflection of the mood and joy at Poptart parties. It was a dream come true for the quartet to come up with quality merchandise unlike in the past where they gave away stickers and buttons during their nights at The Butter Factory.

If you're looking for a different clubbing experience, hit The Butter Factory for Poptart parties. For those who love music, come and create your own journey. It doesn't have to be a full time job, it can be a hobby just like the other 3 people of the gang.

Wise words from the founder DJ weelikeme, "Keep your feet on the ground at all times, don't get carried away with your image. The music always comes first, then shoes next."
