When fellow gamers meet.....

The weekend was busy for us at in2it.sg, as we headed to Game Haven on 26^th June for the World Cyber Games (WCG) 2010 SAFRA Championship League. The competition took place from 25^th-27^th June. Among the many gamers who competed was team DBD, who were representing in2it.sg for Defense of the Ancients (DotA).

Other than DotA, gamers were also competing for their respective titles in Blackshot, Counter Strike, FIFA, Warcraft III, Guitar Hero 5, Tekken 6, Forza Motorsport 3, and Left 4 Dead 2. So imagine how tensed and loud it was over at Game Haven!

WCG kicked off on 25^th June, at 6pm, starting with the Top 32 Playoffs for DotA All Stars, where they were competing for their spot in the Top 16.

The next day, 26^th June, was an all-day event where matches started as early as 10am and went on till about 10pm! The competition was held at Level 4 and 5 of Game Haven, while Level 3 was the registration counter for participants.

Operations for Game Haven was as usual, where Level 3 was made available for walk-in customers should they wish to play the games available.

Over at Level 1, chairs were laid out for members of the public to watch featured matches of the competition, with “live” commentaries made available to further create a more exciting atmosphere for the audience.

It was too bad that our team, DBD, lost to The Last Time, the eventual winners of DotA, in the Top 16 when they competed for their spot for the Quarter Finals. “We’re disappointed, but it was a good game,” said Prabu, 18, leader for Team DBD.

The final day appeared to be a shorter day, as it boiled down to the Finals for every title. Each team competed to win their deserving titles, and at 6pm, we had ourselves the winners for the competition. A prize giving ceremony was held to end the day.

The WCG 2010 SAFRA Championship League is a joint collaboration between SAFRA’s Game Haven and Rapture Gaming, and serves as the Preliminary phase for the WCG Singapore National Finals, which will be held on 9^th-11^th July 2010 at Singapore Expo.
