James Cameron’s Avatar hits Singapore with new footage!

No, we ain’t kidding. Mark this date: 26th August, and we do mean mark it.

Twentieth Century Fox and James Cameron recently announced on 8th July that a special edition of Avatar will be released in theatres nationwide in Singapore, on the above mentioned date.

Better yet, it will exclusively be in Digital 3D and IMAX 3D! So if you missed the experience last December, now’s your chance! Don’t miss it this time because it will be in a limited engagement, though we’re not exactly sure how “limited” the run will be.

James Cameron commented, “Audiences repeatedly told me they wanted more of Pandora, and wished they could have stayed there longer. So we’re making that possible.”

Well, hurray to that! We’re definitely loving that gesture, Cameron.

And we’re also loving that AVATAR: SPECIAL EDITION will have eight minutes of never before seen footage, including new creatures and action scenes.

"Whether you already love the movie, or you've never seen it, with this Special Edition, you'll be seeing it like never before," added James Cameron.

Sounds like another award winning work of art to me.

Bagging 3 Oscars, 2 from the Golden Globe®, 26 other wins, and 58 nominations, the winning epic is the highest grossing film of all time, taking in over $2.7 billion in worldwide box office, just 41 days after its release last December. It is also the top-selling Blu-ray disc of all time.

Back in Singapore, Cameron's "Avatar" grossed in S$8.97 million in just four weeks since its release to become the new all-time box-office champ, beating out "Titanic" which had held the title for over a decade.

With the special edition coming up in August, I cannot imagine how much they’ll be grossing in this time. Whatever it is, we’re eagerly anticipating the release in August!
