Guilty pleasures of our neighbourhood

It in recent survey, it was revealed men were most guilty of Lust and women most guilty of Pride out of the seven deadly sins. However, I feel we don't have to look so far ahead to be charged as guilty. Now let me introduce you. The guilty pleasures of our neighbourhood. We don't have to be living in red light districts to enjoy the pleasures of our surrounding. There are actually a lot more than what meets the eyes in our neighbourhood.

In the land of the rising sun, Japan, it is rush hour every hour so much so that food and retail outlets have tailored themselves to the 'always on the move' people. For example, food outlets and bars are a common sight at subway stations where office workers chow down sushi in a hurry. We don't have to travel all the way to Japan to experience this. We have it right here in our CBD! Tucked away in a corner of OUB Centre, is the Standing Sushi Bar. Come indulge in some sushi and sake during lunch time without having to feel guilty for taking more than an hour off for lunch! 

To see cattle is a rare sight, what about a cattle plodding along with a cart? This sight, common to the paddy fields of our South East Asian neighbours like Yangon and Thailand, can be seen right here in our own backyard! What about the huts we see in pictures of Bali, that too can be seen right here! The Bottle Tree Park at Lorong Chencharu gives off the kind of serenity and peace these little villages have. There's no need to feel guilty when looking at such wonderful scenery.

If television show, Jersey Shore caught your attention, then head down to the Tanjong Beach Club at Sentosa. It is here where you can truly feel what it is like to party Miami style. Fusing together the sun, sea, sand with 1950s architecture, it is definitely the place to go and live it up! Come dip in the pool or lie on a bench sipping an icy cold drink, one of my favourite guilty pleasures!

I have only listed 3 out of the many other places we can go indulge ourselves in right here in Singapore. Thematic bars, rustic buildings with exceptional architecture, places of worship that brings us peace and tranquillity, and many more. There is just so much for us to explore in our neighbourhood. So go out there and find your own guilty pleasure!
