River Hongbao 2012
Pop fireworks and investigate towering lanterns of myriad shapes and colours at this year’s Chinese New Year carnival at the floating platform. Exquisitely designed by craftsmen from Chengdu, China, each lantern is a fastidious work of wonder that incorporates a touch of tradition into a technical showcase of lights and sounds. Don’t forget to come with a great appetite as chefs from Guangxi will also be on hand to cook up a storm with delicacies like Guilin Rice Noodles, Bamboo Rice and Yu Lin Meatballs on offer. Those who prefer more familiar bites will be able to pick from a wide spread of local favourties, including Satay and Carrot Cake, as well as a special Nian Gao created by students from local culinary school At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy. Other highlights include song and dance performances by natives of Guangxi, a flea market that will feature several traditional artefacts from China – and a theme park with more than 25 rides and game stalls.
