Maritime Experiential Museum & Aquarium @ Resorts World Sentosa ![]() History comes to life at the newest addition to the family of attractions at Resorts World Sentosa. Discover the fascination behind Southeast Asia’s maritime history with the museum’s diverse collection of exhibits, artefacts and interactive displays. A gift from the Sultanate of Oman, the Jewel of Muscat (pictured) stands tall among the exhibits as a life-size replica of a 9th century dhow delivered to Singapore by sailors with the use of only archaic navigational equipment. It is joined by reconstructions of 5 other traditional ships like the Chinese Fuchuan Junk and Javanese Jong. Over at the Maritime Archaeology Gallery, restored relics recovered from shipwrecks from neighbouring waters provide valuable insights into the lives of our ancestors. The museum also offers the Typhoon Theatre, a 150-seat arena swathed in multimedia wizardry like strobe lighting, simulated winds and water sprays to help you relive the plight of a shipwreck victim onboard a 9th century Chinese junk. Unfortunately, the aquarium will only open next year. Text by Loh Yong Jian Related Articles |
