The Museum showcases 5,000 years of Asian culture. With more than 1,600 artefacts displayed across 11 thematic galleries and special exhibitions, you will be able to immerse yourself in the ancient civilisations of China, Southeast Asia, South Asia and the Islamic world. Discover the hardships of life here during the Japanese Occupation. Start your trip with a walk down the same ceremonial route that the British forces took on the day of surrender and be enveloped in a pall of surrealism in the original Board Room where the surrender officially took place. View rare photographs, maps and artefacts and catch exclusive footage in the World War 2 documentaries screened. Opens 12nn – 5.30pm National Museum of Singapore
Home to the popular Singapore History Gallery and 4 other galleries detailing the fashion, food, photography and film of yesteryear, the National Museum of Singapore features some of the greatest treasures of our nation, including the mysterious Singapore Stone and 14th century gold ornaments unearthed from Fort Canning Hill. Opens 10am – 6pm Peranakan Museum
The museum boasts the world’s finest and most comprehensive collection of Peranakan artefacts. The 10 permanent galleries explore various themes of Peranakan culture, including the elaborate 12 day Peranakan wedding, the role of the Nonyas, prominent Peranakans in Singapore’s history, as well as Peranakan food. It also provides a glimpse of how modern Peranakans have evolved with their culture. Opens 9am – 7pm Reflections at Bukit Chandu
Housed in a restored black and white colonial bungalow amidst the lush Opium Hill, Reflections at Bukit Chandu is close to where the legendary Battle of Pasir Panjang was fought. Relieve the Japanese invasion of Singapore from 7 to 15 February 1942 and be heartened by the valour of the 1,400 brave soldiers from the Malay Regiment who fought heroically against a 13,000 strong Japanese army. Opens 9am – 5pm Singapore Art Museum
The museum occupies what is formerly a mission school in the 19th century, owning the largest collection of over 7,500 20th century Singapore and Southeast Asian artworks in the world. They include works by doyens of local art like Liu Kang, Georgette Chen and Chen Wen Hsi in additional to pieces of modern and contemporary art by other Southeast Asian masters. Opens 10am – 7pm Singapore Philatelic Museum
The first of its kind in the region, the fascinating array of 11,000 philatelic artefacts on showcase here traces Singapore’s history and provides a window to the world. View letters, stamps and other philatelic materials from as early as the 1880s to modern Singapore. The Singapore Philatelic Museum also currently hosts The Adventures of Tintin exhibition.
