Frangipani Langkawi Resort and Spa – A Green Jewel In Langkawi
Nestled in the southwest region of Langkawi, Frangipani Langkawi Resort and Spa is set on a lush landscaped grove of coconut palm trees in Pantai Tengah. With a golden beach front of powdery sand lapped by cool gentle waves, the resort offers visitors with a panoramic sea view and breath-taking sunset in the evenings. Just 15 minutes ride from the airport will bring you to this oasis of tropical charm.
In2it.sg and the winners of our Adventure in Langkawi 2011 blog contest had the privilege to stay at this picturesque resort during our trip to Langkawi. We were hosted by Ms Wong Peng Jun for Frangipani Langkawi Resort and Spa during our stay.
Frangipani epitomises a home away from home. If you are looking for some private downtime during your getaway in Langkawi, Frangipani’s Garden villas and Sea View Beach villas will be the ideal accommodation for you.
The villas are housed in individual single storey chalets spread across the 10-hectre resort with the beach just a few steps away. Each villa is fronted by a veranda, which serves as perfect spot for you to indulge in your favourite literature while enjoying the cool sea breeze. Our favourite feature of the villa is the outdoor shower – how often do you get to hear trees rustling in the breeze and crickets serenading under the moonlight while you are in the shower?
A quaint hideaway with a peaceful and laidback atmosphere, Frangipani is the perfect place for the weary urbanite to rejuvenate.
Preserving Langkawi’s Natural Beauty – Frangipani’s Green Movement
Blessed with Mother Nature’s natural beauty, Frangipani Langkawi Resort and Spa makes a conscious effort to preserve its environment by introducing eco-friendly practices in its daily operations.
Today, Frangipani Langkawi Resort and Spa is home to some 600 plants, from its namesake Frangipani to the Malaysian Cherry tree as well as Asian herbs and aromatics like kaffir lime and pandan. You can adopt a plant at the resort for RM100 under the resort’s Plant Adoption Programme to commemorate your stay at Frangipani.
Tucked in a quiet corner of the resort, Frangipani’s Zero Waste Eco Farm is rustic sanctuary where you will see chickens and ducks roam free amidst the resort’s organic farm. Bordering the eco farm is a wetland, where waste water is channelled to and treated naturally using aquatic plants such as water mimosas and water hyacinth. The treated water is then used as the flushing water for the resort’s toilets, among other things.
Frangipani Langkawi Resort and Spa is constantly looking at new ways it could reduce, reuse and recycle. It has even added an additional ‘R’ in its eco mission – Rethink. We went behind the scenes with Frangipani’s Environmental Specialist, Ms Ai Ling to learn more about the resort’s green initiatives.
Take a walk outside your room and you will be truly amazed with Frangipani’s recycling creativities - ashtrays made from coconut husks, signage made from recycled wood and lampshades made from used plastic bottles. Even the keychain for your room key is made from recycled wood!
Frangipani Langkawi Resort and Spa is truly a resort with a heart. Nature is often sacrificed to pave way for modernisation; in Frangipani, preserving Langkawi’s natural beauty takes precedent and being eco-friendly is ingrained in the resort’s culture.
