Child-like Hearts

UglyDoll, Blythe, Barbie, Bandai... You name it, the Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention 2009 (STGCC) had it.

Cash was being thrown around at the Suntec Convention Hall from 14 - 16 Aug with the wide variety of toys, comic and games merchandise available. Limited edition toys were snapped up fast as avid toy collectors came down on the first day to purchase those precious figurines.

18Hundreds of capsule machines were stationed along the exits of the venue and at the Bandai stand, for those who like surprises to insert a $1 coin one after another to get their hands on the ones they were eyeing for. Who cares if you ended up getting ten of the same To-Fu Oyaku figurines just to get the one that you wanted? It's all part of the fun. =)

Other than the various products, toy designers, comic artists and game creators made appearance to make their fans go wild snapping photos and queuing in lines to get their autograph.

Over at the tokidoki booth, the queue to get the autograph of Simone Legno (right), the brainchild of tokidoki, snaked along the next two booths. These fanatics showed up as early as 11am (when the exhibition opened its doors) to get a coupon for Simone's autograph - which consisted of a drawing of one of his many characters and his sign-off - showed their love for his works. Every 15 min, a group of unprivileged fans would crowd at the booth to take some picture of the man.

Cosplayers (people dressed up in anime character costumes) lingered every corner of the convention hall and outside, posing to every camera without a noticeable frown on their faces. Just like last year, a Cosplay Corner was provided to these dressing-up enthusiasts, where they mingled with fellow cosplayers.

Stage activities thrilled the event-goers with its various cosplay competitions. The huge crowd cheered on each cosplayers who donned their fanciful costume on stage. Game areas were sighted near the Wii booth, where a "Guitar Hero" competition was ongoing; other event-goers chose to try out some Wii games.

All in all, those three days certainly entertained toy, comic and game enthusiasts, leaving them to look forward to the next convention.
