Preamble Part I
by Chow WL
This article is specially for the lonely guys out there, read this article right now or be prepared for a lonesome 14th February (unless you're Chinese). You will realise that Preamble will require your imagination.
Are you ready?
Imagine...Guy meets girl across a crowded restaurant, he smiles to indicate his attraction. Girl blinks, once and she looks away. Then, she re-adjusts the position of her purse on the dining table while keeping her head down.
How should you be interpreting her body gestures? What are you supposed to think? The average Joe is likely to construe the girl's reaction as one of total disinterest; some may even feel spurned and rejected by the girl's action of turning away.
As surprising as it may be, the truth is the girl has just sent a subtle ‘come-on' message through her body language. And, she is actually ready and awaiting the guy's next move. Thus, if he is not ready with another megawatt smile when she coyly looks his way in about 30 seconds, the game is over!
We know it is tough being a guy; having to put up a ‘macho' front round the clock is often as tiring as being expected to bear and grin with rejection. So, we have put together this series of articles to help all the average Joes out there stand a better chance of getting connected with the femme fatales who catch their eye.
The basic body language tips described here highlight some myths and little-known facts to help you guys understand women's body language.

General Advice:
In the scenario described above, if you wish to befriend a total stranger, always establish eye contact for a few seconds. Then, when she looks away and then downwards (a sign of submission!), you're actually in a good position to make the next move. Focus on her and watch for the next moment when she looks your way again (cos she will definitely do so!). When she does, be sure for eye contact and, SMILE. Fret not if she does not return your smile. Repeat this till she smiles back at you. When she does, that is the signal for you to ‘attack', do walk over slowly but intently towards her... remember, practice makes perfect!
