Last issue of SPIN Asia gave us an overview of Tay Junction at 733 Bukit Timah Road and how it is one of the largest dealers in Singapore for premium brands like Specialized, Giant and Kona just to name a few. In the spirit of providing excellent service, performance, innovation, quality and value, Mr Tay has done it again by fulfilling all your cycling needs with the opening of their latest shop; Tay Junction at Binjai Park. We bring you a firsthand impression of the shop as the smell of fresh paint, its new furnishings and overall ambience of the place hit us as we enter.

This new outlet is located at 5, Binjai Park along Dunearn Road from Ngee Ann Poly direction towards the BMW Performance Motors showroom just before a Caltex petrol station. The good news for any cyclist who frequent the Bukit Timah trails is that it is just a 10-15mins cycling distance away from Rifle Range road. It is now within easy reach to bring your bike over to the shop if you hit any tyre punctures or breakdown in the BT trail.

Glancing around in the shop, you will be treated with a wide selection of bikes very much similar to its sister branch at 2nd Avenue. White tile floorings with spot lights casting down from false ceilings that brightly illuminate the neatly hung and arranged rows of bicycles, which provide an excellent boutique yet cozy bike shopping experience. Even though the new premises may not have a basement level like the flagship shop, it possesses a modest range of GT and Haro bikes as the main brands. You will find other brands like Giant, Haro GT, Redline, Hasa, Oldpa for bikes that range from strictly mountain, BMX, hybrid bikes to even folding bikes and touring bikes. There are bikes catered for everyone there: Competitive racers, weekend cyclist, family crowds, low end bikes and BMX cyclist. For the fairer sex, there are also women sized bikes and a wide range of kids bikes for those who want to start off young. It is definitely an excellent cycling shop for enthusiasts and family alike.

2Need a tuning up or upgrade parts of your bike? They have qualified mechanics to handle your bike's every need and provide full bike servicing for mountain bikes. You will be in for a treat and spoilt for choice over the rows of neatly displayed shocks from Rock shox, Avid, Trivatif and SRAM. It does not end there of course as the choice of groupsets and components available will definitely make you drool. The shop brings in all MTB components like SRAM, Raceface, FSA, E-13, DT SWISS, Thomson products, Easton, Chris King, Wellgo pedals, Truvativ, Avid, and Rock shox. Be prepared to bring a loaded wallet to give yourself a treat the next time you visit this shop of temptation.
